<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Susanna Rigon is an artist I have hanging in my home. I think its some kind of cast off as the detail is not as prominent as it should be. I have found only her facebook page and very little else. I love that she uses a very strict color palette...I did find this online:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">"Susanna Rigon was born in Padua in 1967 and graduated in 1987 from the graphic arts school. She is passionate about the poetic art of illustration for children. For many years she has been painting using oil and acrylic on canvas, only recently oil on hemp paper. Her productions are representations of feelings, dreams, stories without words."
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The piece I own is on hemp paper.
Nick Georgiou is a book sculptor. His work is very large and combines two things I love.... books and art. I originally saw the piece on the left at the Whitney, when they first opened up in their new location, located in the old meatpacking district / West Village NYC.

Here is what his bio states: Nick Georgiou was born in NYC in 1980. He received his BFA in Film and Television from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. After graduation, he worked as a Production Designer and Art Director on independent films before focusing full time on his career as a sculptor.

Georgiou creates meticulously hand-stitched newsprint sculptures, which he integrates into the urban environment. His sculptures breathe new life into discarded books and newspapers found on the streets and comment on the regeneration of the printed word in contemporary society.Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397397515367465113.post-21329996232861522662018-03-22T14:21:00.000-04:002018-03-22T15:24:00.602-04:00Chalk Design

The original piece is 3x5 feet. It was fun to do and got me in an upright position, but the markers are a bit unruly.

I find myself so often on a laptop or sitting at my desk when I create. I purposely purchased this material so I would have to get off my lazy butt.
I would love to be able to have liquid chalk in these colors, in pots rather than markers. I really wanted to be able to use some brushes for this. Anyway... I am washing it off today but wanted to preserve it for myself. I hope you enjoy it.Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397397515367465113.post-7409660325010661472018-03-01T13:58:00.000-05:002018-03-01T14:09:08.663-05:00Where Did My Bounding Box Go? Amy Nguyen is a textile artist. Her wearable art is beautifully formed and asian inspired. Simple shapes evolved in graphic design that is both old and new. A fresh look at quilting-like mosaic techniques brought into the 21st century. Amy will be one of the Fine Art Craftsmen showing in Palm Beach this weekend at the convention center. I am looking forward to seeing her textiles in person.Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397397515367465113.post-12105026337162658502018-02-10T20:18:00.000-05:002018-02-10T20:18:10.476-05:00

This is my own work... "Red Fedora" (limited edition) sometimes when I gets parts of it done I feel like it's good just like that. I saw a beautiful drawing like that one time. A young girls sitting and only her gorgeous skin tones were filled in...the rest of her body and the chair were left in sketch. I will look to see if I can find it and post it here. You can look for my posts titled Artists I Love and see if I do find it. This is the kind of art I love...not quite drawing, not quite painting with a very graphic type illustrative feel.

Katharine Morling is one amongst many of the "Artists I Love" The ceramics she makes look like line drawings of everyday objects. Her artwork and artistry are so unique. In her own words she says of her style: "I am interested in presenting ceramics in a way which makes the viewer take a second look; where the material is not always immediately recognisable..."

Ok folks...this is a first for me. I have attempted to record an old slide show I did for school on these two artists. Not an expert videographer as you can plainly see! These are two of my favorites along with the paintings I love the most. Hopper, in the early 20th century, and Homer, in the late 19th century were highly accomplished painters. Hopper's "Rooms by the Sea" and works by Tim Eitel give me much the same kind of lonely feeling. Charles Harper is what the definition of graphic design looks like to me. His art depicts nature in the most simplistic forms possible. Using simple geometric shapes, he is able to get to the point with the least amount of puzzle pieces. His artwork can be seen in NY city subway stations, on home decor. His artistic and original art are recognizable anywhere. His prints and even some original paintings can still be purchased. If you love a simple graphic design you will not be disappointed.

Sally Mann is hands down my favorite photographer. Her photos have a dream like quality. She used her own children as models for the series I am most familiar with. I was introduced to her work in a photography class I took in my local community college. We developed and printed our own black and white photos the good ole fashioned way. In a darkroom. Sally Mann (born in Lexington, Virginia, 1951) is one of America’s most renowned photographers. She has received numerous awards, including NEA, NEH, and Guggenheim Foundation grants, and her work is held by major institutions internationally.Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397397515367465113.post-84414948993517485682018-01-25T19:57:00.000-05:002018-01-25T19:57:07.025-05:00Part 4 of Progression: Girl in a Skirt

"Girl in a Skirt" This is the final product. I used the watercolor brushes available in Photoshop Sketch. That was not my intention and made the process considerably more difficult. Anyway...live and learn. I don't hate it but I know it could have been done better. I am moving along at a slowish pace. I have decided to remove the whole outline and just sharpen it all up. Little background to set it on. Claiming, “it’s more important to click with people than to click the shutter,” Alfred Eisenstaedt defined the practice of photojournalism as one of its pioneering practitioners, from the years leading up to World War II to the closing decade of the 20th century. He took his first photograph at 29, one of more than a million he would take over the course of his career. In 1935, he emigrated to New York and was hired by LIFE Magazine as one of its first staff photographers. See more at Artsy.net.
Dmitry Shorin's paintings are immediately recognizable – influenced by photography and referencing mass media images, he paints beautiful young girls almost exclusively. Frequently placing his fragile and ephemeral heroines in the heavens paired with airplanes, his paintings are uncanny. Matte and somewhat drained of colour, Shorin's images are rife with unease created by a repressed yet ever present psychological eroticism. The girls he paints are constantly observed, their images created for and consumed by consumer society, but Shorin's presentation of them is them is that of the voyeur, the unseen observer.

My newest favorite tools are the Ipad Pro in conjunction with the Apple Pencil. I use Adobe Sketch which has a simple to use interface and a variety of brushes. I wanted to show a bit of how one of my projects in progress, and how it moves along from beginning to end. Here is the start. Next I will be working on the T-shirt and will bring that to you once it is completed. The final phase will be the face and neck. Linocut printmaking is all about the negative and the positive, what is cut away and what is left behind. This material is a bit too soft to get any real detail. It's a bit like a pencil eraser. Next time I intend to use the real material linoleum. Just now looking to see what my subject matter will be. Suggestions are welcomed!Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397397515367465113.post-47304438958884014252018-01-11T08:26:00.000-05:002018-01-11T08:26:10.751-05:00Linocut Printmaking Alexandra

This is the first ever linocut by Citrus Tree Designs. I used a photo of "Alexandra" that I took years ago as a template for the image I cut from a block of linoleum. This is a fun process that takes some serious concentration. The tools are sharp!Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6397397515367465113.post-57214408597123430502018-01-09T16:56:00.000-05:002018-01-09T16:58:11.970-05:00Girl with Freckles watercolor sketch

I am excited to share my experiences with my newly acquired Ipad Pro and Apple Pencil. These photos show a bit of the progression when using the tools on the Ipad Pro and using the Apple pencil I used the adobe app "Adobe Sketch" on the Ipad pro. The painterly effect is amazing and the prints come out beautifully. Citrus Tree Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17635207015399451214noreply@blogger.com0
