GIMP - Free Photoshop Alternative...How do I get it?

Adobe Photoshop is an incredibly feature rich program. You've heard all the talk about "layers", "actions", and all those cool Photoshop "brushes". You've probably also heard about the HUGE price tag too!

Well, what's a poor struggling artist to do? The answer is GIMP. This is an open source program that works in many way just as Adobe Photoshop does. Free to download and FREE to use.

If you have been looking for "The" digital image composition, authoring, retouching and processing program...look no more!

The site offers all sorts of help for those of you who are unfamiliar with the intricacies of Photoshop. Tutorials include: Simple Animations, Adding Text, Masking, Creating Brushes, Convert Color to B&W, and much, much more.

Thank you so much for this info. I do alot of photography but the digital world has been a huge learning curve for me, I still feel way more comfortable and do most of my work with film cameras, color slides, b&w 35 mm films. So now, for the past 3 years I have been shooting with my digital nikon d70. I still havn't learned the potential of this thing. For now I just straight shoot in automatic and the photos come out amazing but I really want to learn to be more in control. Photoshop and post processing seems to be a very important feature of digital photography and I havn't even begun to experiment with- even if I owned the program the language of it overwhelms me. I will check out Gimp and chip away little by little at my digital photography skills.
Great blog! Sharing is caring!!

maybe you can consider to use GimPhoto.

actually GimPhoto is GIMP modification with new PS menu layout, packed with many great plugins, such as: separation, save for web, batch process, noise removal and photography filters, and also improved with new brushset, new gradientset, every aspect is tweaked to improve user usability.
